Home Sweet Home
Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home. Our next
meeting will be at Helen Reed's home on January 19, at 7:00 p.m. for an
evening of wonderful organ and harpsichord music, tasty treats, warm
beverages, and fun fellowship. Now what could be more homey than
that? Helen will be doing a program of music by Buxtehude, J.S. Bach,
Chadwick, Selby, Elgar, Alain, Distler, and others. Helen's address is
1435 Brookside Dr., in Evansville. Please contact Kevin Ellerbusch at
812-589-1115 or Helen Reed at 812-476-0673 if you need directions.
Also, you will have the opportunity to play the harpsichord and
organ that are in Helen's home. We would like for everyone to bring a
dessert to share that evening. This would be a great time for those of
you who haven't made it to a meeting in a while to come and catch up
on old friendships, and our new members can begin to get to know
everyone in the chapter.Managing a Church Music Program
Have you ever wondered if there might be a better way of
coordinating all of your choirs in worship? Would you like some ideas on how to get more people in your chancel choir or children's choirs? Would
you like to sit down and talk with people who are going through the same
struggles in their church jobs as you are? Well, on February 16,
Robert Nichols, Music Director at First Presbyterian Church in Evansville,
will dig into his bag of tricks and give us some of his wisdom about
managing a church music program. From London to Evansville, Robert has
considerable and varied experience in the church music field which should
make for a very interesting presentation. Robert would like to keep
the evening light and informal, so come prepared to ask questions.
We would like to encourage non-AGO members to come also, so please
bring a friend with you who has some interest in this area or who might
like to join our chapter.
An Italian dinner prepared by Biaggi's will be served at 6:00
p.m., in the Fellowship Hall at First Presbyterian Church, 609 SE 2nd
St., Evansville. The program, which will also be in the Fellowship Hall
at First Presbyterian, will begin at 6:45 p.m. and will conclude by
8:00. The dinner is $10 per person and reservations should be made with
Kristin Jones at 812-867-1883 by February 11.
