SUMMER ORGAN SOCIAL

We will begin our new season with a Barbecue Dinner and pool-side musical entertainment at the McCormicks' home in Henderson, Kentucky, beginning at 6:00 p.m.  Pot-luck side dishes and deserts are welcome.


September 28, 2002 
ORGAN CRAWL to HISTORIC VINCENNES, INDIANA

After Saturday lunch together in Vincennes we will explore the 1981 Taylor & Boody at First Christian Church, and  the 1887 Steere and Turner at St. James Episcopal Church.


October 20, 2002 
ORGAN CENTENARY CELEBRATION

Our A.G.O. chapter will help St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Evansville celebrate 100 years since the completion of their historic organ by the Wisconsin Pipe Organ Factory of Schleisingerville, WI: Opus 21.  Join us for this Sunday afternoon concert beginning at 3:00 p.m.

ORGAN MAINTENANCE WORKSHOP

A workshop on various topics related to the care of pipe organs, including some basic pipe organ maintenance and tuning, maintenance contracts, selecting and dealing with maintenance persons and firms, evaluating work done on an organ, short-term and long-term goals and budgeting for optimum upkeep of pipe organs.  Clinician: John Schwandt.

HANDBELL WORKSHOP

This two-part workshop will begin with an introduction to handbells and playing techniques, followed by a reading/playing session focusing on standard and new literature for handbell choirs.  The event begins at 9:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Evansville 


February 10, 2003

THE NAUMBURG ORGAN PROJECT

Dr. Douglas Reed of the University of Evansville will share information, pictures and insights from his trip to Naumburg, Germany to study the newly-restored organ from J.S.Bach's day. (Related Web Site) The program will be at the University of Evansville beginning at 7:30 p.m.

KEYBOARD KALEIDOSCOPE 2003

On Monday, February 17, 2003, Presidents’ Day, the Evansville Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will sponsor its annual educational event for piano students and others interested in keyboard instruments.  Keyboard Kaleidoscope offers participants age 10 and up a hands-on introduction to the pipe organ, the harpsichord, and other members of the keyboard family.   This year’s event takes place at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 5130 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, from 9:30 AM until 12:30 PM.  The registration fee of $10 includes lunch.  For more information contact Helen Reed, Education Convener (812-476-0673; hsr@evansville.net)

HYMN FESTIVAL

This event is in conjunction with The University of Evansville's Sacred Music Festival, March 23-25.  The Hymn Festival will take place on Sunday afternoon, March 23 at 4:00 p.m. at the Mount Saint Joseph Ursuline Motherhouse in Maple Mount, Kentucky, a 45-minute drive south of Evansville.  It will feature scripture readings, poetry, hymns and chants.  The music will be led by several area church choirs and accompanied with the convent's recently built Taylor and Boody mechanical action organ and other instruments.


April 5, 2003

HYMN-A-THON

As our annual fundraiser, this event allows members and friends of the guild and the wider community to gather to enjoy singing many favorite and new hymns for pledges and donations.  The events will take place from 9:00 untill 11:00 a.m. on Saturday morning at several local churches around the Tri-state area.


May 5, 2003

"THE BIG EVENT"

We will have a dinner and social time, a brief business meeting with the election of new officers, and the installation of officers within a worship service.
