During this International Year of
the Organ, the Evansville AGO, in
conjunction with the University of
Evansville AGO Chapter, will host the only POE-Advanced
in
the nation in 2009! The dates will be June 21-June 26.
This POE includes the following special items:
- Students will be housed
on
the University
of Evansville
campus, located in the city of Evansville,
Indiana.
- About 20 organs
will be available for
the
students
to use for practice including organs by Aeolian-Skinner, Casavant,
Fisk, Holtkamp, Jaeckel, Noack, Schlicker, Schreiner, Walcker, Wicks,
and more.
- The students will receive lessons every day.
- All-Star Faculty (See Faculty Page).
- Presentations,
lectures, lecture-recitals, and recitals in the evening will be part of
the POE.
- A field trip through the southern Indiana
countryside to the beautiful, historic St. Meinrad Archabbey (with its 70-rank organ), along with
other
destinations.
- The Advanced POE has a more focused curriculum than
a
POE.
- We
will have an organ builder in residence, Michael Rathke.
He will
build
a small practice organ with all parts visible that will be available
for
the students.
- The students will build a pipe and will aid with
the
tuning
and voicing of this new instrument.
- Cost for the week, including all meals and housing
is $450. Limited scholarship assistance is available through the
American Guild of Organists. Contact the POEA Directer below for
more information.
