Music became an active part of
St.
Lucas
in 1893 when the Giesecke tracker action pipe organ was
dedicated.
In 1895 the church orchestra was begun and continues to thrive
today. The Aeolian Skinner organ was installed in
1950. It
was rededicated on October 23, 2003 with Kirk Rich at the
console
after renovations and additions by Goulding and Wood of
Indianapolis. This organ has been played by many fine
organists
including E. Power Biggs, Fenner Douglas, Vincent Dubois of
Paris,
Marilyn Mason, and Mrs. Hope Nelson (former organist for whom
the organ was
dedicated for her 31 years of service at St. Lucas).
