SOCIAL/BBQ DINNER/EUROPEAN TRIP PRESENTATION
Location: Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Henderson KY

We will again begin our new season with a BBQ dinner and social.  This will be followed by a presentation by the University of Evansville Student AGO Guild on their 2004 summer organ tour to France and Switzerland. 

  • 6:00 p.m. Social/Dinner
  • 7:00 p.m. Program
The events will will be in the parish hall of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Henderson, KY.  From Evansville take the Green Street exit off of Highway 41 into downtown Henderson, turn left on Second Street and you will see the church on the left (Map) Please let Neal Biggers know if you plan to attend the dinner, and please bring a side dish, salad or desert (meat and soft drinks will be provided).

GUEST ORGANIST/PIANIST/COMPOSER DR. LEONARD DANEK
Location: Methodist Temple, Evansville

Dr. Danek is an associate professor at Northwestern College in Roseville, MN, where he teaches music theory, composition and organ. He is well known as an organist and composer. Dr. Danek and his compositions have been featured several times on Minnesota Public Radio’s "Pipe Dreams."  He has served as organist of First Lutheran Church of St. Louis Park, MN since 1984.  His Saturday morning workshop will focus on composing arrangements of hymn tunes for organ and piano.  His Sunday afternoon concert here will feature works by Bach, Guilmant and Liszt as well as several of his own compositions.  For more information contact Rhoda Martin at rhodamartin@sigecom.net .

PEDALS, PIPES AND PIZZAS:
A Keyboard Adventure for Young People
9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 
Location: Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Evansville
  • Are you a student age 10 or older?
  • Have you been playing the piano for any length of time?
  • Would you like to spend Presidents’ Day 2005 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. seeing, hearing, and playing some real pipe organs?
  • Would you like to eat pizza for lunch?
  • THEN PLAN TO ATTEND PEDALS, PIPES, AND PIZZA 2005!

    FORGOTTEN TREASURE: THE COLISEUM ORGAN
    Location: Evansville Central Public Library, Browning Room
    Refreshments at 10:00 AM
    Presentation at 10:30 AM

    Evansville is home to a rare treasure of a musical  instrument: the 1919 Moller pipe organ located in the historic Memorial Coliseum in downtown Evansville.  Originally purchased as a municipal organ for the community, this large organ has six divisions over four manual keyboards and pedals.  World-famous organist have played this instrument.  Unfortumately the instrument is practically unplayable at present due to years of neglect.  Dr. Douglas Reed will present a program about the Tinker Memorial Organ and its significance to the Evansville community in the past, the present...and the future.   For more information contact Dr. Reed at dr5@evansville.edu

    UNIVERSITY OF EVANSVILLE

    Tim Weisman, who has been an active leader within the U.E. and Evansville Chapters of the A.G.O. during his studies at the university will present his senior recital this month.  Contact Tim at timothyweisman@hotmail.com for more information.

    ANNUAL CHAPTER DINNER AND INSTALLATION SERVICE
    St. Lucas United Church of Christ, Evansville
    6:00 pm - Social Time
    6:30 pm - Dinner
    7:30 pm - Service
    Join our local chapter on this Monday evening for social time and dinner, a chapter meeting for the election of officers and a review of the activities of the chapter, and a service of installation of officers.  The dinner will be prepared by the women of St. Lucas Church and will cost $10 per person.  Reservations are needed for the meal by April 25.  Contact Neal Biggers at nealbiggers@yahoo.com for reservations or more information.
