Sunday September 23, 2012 at 4pm: Guest organ recital by internationally acclaimed organist David Briggs at First Presbyterian Church in Evansville.  A reception will be provided by the Evansville AGO Chapter following the program.  Contact Betty Alteide at bjaltheide@yahoo.com to volunteer to provide food and/or help with the reception. Friday October 19, 2012 at 7:30pm: Silent Film (Phantom of the Opera) with improvised organ accompaniment by Robert Nicholls at First Presbyterian Church in Evansville.

Sunday November 4, 2012
at 3:30pm (Central Time): Historic Organ Exploration and Demonstration, St. Pius Catholic Church in Troy, Indiana.  We will go to Capers restaurant in Tell City for dinner following the program. Sunday January 6, 2013:
Epiphany Party at the home of our dean, Neal Biggers, on the East Side of Evansville.  We will gather beginning at 5:00 p.m. to socialize and share a potluck meal, followed by a discussion about some exciting developments with the Tinker Memorial Organ at the old Coliseum.  Contact Neal at nealbiggers@yahoo.com to RSVP or for more information. February 2013: Organ for Pianists and Piano for Organists, Feb. 25, 7:30 p.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Evansville:

Are you a pianist who plays the organ?  Do you struggle finding good music that suits your abilities on the organ while stilling giving you an opportunity to develop your skills?  Are you nervous about playing with your feet?  Do you find yourself relying on the same organ pieces from year to year?

If so, this workshop has been designed for you.  Matthew Vanover, Director of Music and organist at Henderson First UMC, will be leading a workshop on Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, just north of downtown Evansville.  Matthew will share examples and suggestions of quality organ music that any pianist should feel comfortable and proud to play.  Matthew will also share a very practical method of creating a solo organ pieces out of hymns.

For the organist, Matthew will share a few techniques that he uses regularly when leading hymns on the piano in those situations when the organ is not playable or unavailable.

Saturday April 6, 2013: Regional Competition for Young OrganistsThe Evansville Chapter will host four competitors at Trinity United Methodist Church in downtown Evansville.  The competitions in the afternoon are open to the public.

Saturday April 20, 2013:
Bach-a-thon.  Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Evansville.  Tentative time: 10am to 4pm. Performers on organ, piano, other instruments and voice, solo and ensembles are welcome!  Start brushing up on some Bach and join us.  Contact Neal at nealbiggers@yahoo.com or  Carolyn at lcadams_1@juno.com if you would be willing to perform or help raise donations. Tinker Memorial Concert: The University of Evansville AGO and the Neu Chapel Society will sponsor
the Tinker Memorial Concert on April 12, 2013, at 7:00 pm in Neu Chapel on the University of Evansville
campus. The annual concert celebrates the memory of Milton Z. Tinker, who established a rigorous public
school vocal music curriculum in Evansville, Indiana in the 1880s, and in whose memory a large pipe organ
was dedicated in Evansville’s Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Coliseum in 1919. In addition to UE organ
students and Kantorei, the Signature School Orchestra, the North High School Choir, and the Joshua
Academy Choir will perform.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETINGS:
The Executive Committee generally (but not always) meets on the first Monday of each month at Eastside Christian Church, Weinbach at Bayard Park, at 5:30pm.  Chapter members are welcome to attend a meeting to share ideas, suggestions, or concerns with our chapter's officers.
