Sunday January 6, 2013: Epiphany Party at the home of
our dean, Neal Biggers, on the East Side of Evansville. We
will gather beginning at 5:00 p.m. to socialize and share a
potluck meal, followed by a discussion about some exciting
developments with the Tinker Memorial Organ at the old

February 2013: Organ for
Pianists and Piano for Organists, Feb. 25, 7:30 p.m., at St.
Paul's Lutheran Church, Evansville:
Are you a pianist who plays the organ? Do you
struggle finding good music that suits your abilities on the
organ while stilling giving you an opportunity to develop your
skills? Are you nervous about playing with your
feet? Do you find yourself relying on the same organ
pieces from year to year?
If so, this workshop has been designed for you. Matthew
Vanover, Director of Music and organist at Henderson First UMC,
will be leading a workshop on Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m., at St.
Paul's Lutheran Church, just north of downtown Evansville.
Matthew will share examples and suggestions of quality organ
music that any pianist should feel comfortable and proud to
play. Matthew will also share a very practical method of
creating a solo organ pieces out of hymns.
For the organist, Matthew will share a few techniques that he
uses regularly when leading hymns on the piano in those
situations when the organ is not playable or unavailable.

Young Organists
. The Evansville Chapter
will host four competitors at Trinity United Methodist Church in
downtown Evansville. The competitions in the afternoon are
open to the public.
Saturday April 20, 2013: Bach-a-thon.
Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Evansville. Tentative
time: 10am to 4pm. Performers on organ, piano, other instruments
and voice, solo and ensembles are welcome! Start brushing up

Tinker Memorial Concert: The University of Evansville AGO
and the Neu Chapel Society will sponsor
the Tinker Memorial Concert on April 12, 2013, at 7:00 pm in Neu
Chapel on the University of Evansville
campus. The annual concert celebrates the memory of Milton Z.
Tinker, who established a rigorous public
school vocal music curriculum in Evansville, Indiana in the 1880s,
and in whose memory a large pipe organ
was dedicated in Evansville’s Soldiers and Sailors Memorial
Coliseum in 1919. In addition to UE organ
students and Kantorei, the Signature School Orchestra, the North
High School Choir, and the Joshua
Academy Choir will perform.
Chanticleer...Live in Concert: Saturday, April 13, 2013,
7:30 pm, Victory Theatre, Evansville, Indiana.
This is part of the celebration of the centennial of St. Benedict
Cathedral in Evansville. Tickets are available

month at Eastside Christian Church, Weinbach at Bayard Park,
at 5:30pm. Chapter members are welcome to attend a
meeting to share ideas, suggestions, or concerns with our
chapter's officers.
